Key Risk Indicator (KRI)
A measurable metric that provides early warning when risk exposure is increasing or risk thresholds may be exceeded. KRIs enable continuous monitoring between formal risk assessments and help transform risk management from reactive to proactive. KRIs differ from KPIs, which measure progress toward objectives.
